Walker’s Point developers plan more apartments
Tom Daykin , Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Developers who recently completed an apartment community in Walker’s Point are planning another nearby project in that booming neighborhood.
The new building will be at 1001 S. 2nd St., a 12,300-square-foot lot at the southwest corner of S. 2nd and W. Mineral streets, said Tim Gokhman, of New Land Enterprises LLP.
He declined to provide additional information until the plans are ready to be released.
The lot was created by the recent demolition of the one-story former Rasmussen Industrial Supply building. The property was sold in January 2016 to Horner Sod Farms LLP for $270,000, according to state real estate records.
Horner’s registered agent is Michael Sanfelippo, president of American United Taxicab Co., which is based nearby at 646 S. 2nd St.
Gokhman, Sanfelippo and apartment building operator James Wiechmann last year completed Trio Mke, a development at 1020 S. 2nd St.
Trio has three five-story buildings totaling 120 apartments on a 1-acre site that was formerly an American United parking lot.
Other nearby projects include the newly opened Shoe Factory Lofts, the renovation of a former industrial building into 55 apartments at 224 W. Washington St.

Bucks to announce Oshkosh as D-League host
Nate Beck , USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin
OSHKOSH – After months of speculation, the Milwaukee Bucks will announce plans Wednesday to bring a minor-league basketball team to Oshkosh next season.
The team will play in the heart of the city, at the long-vacant site of the Buckstaff furniture factory. Crews are now whaling away at the remaining structures to clear the land for an arena that is expected to host the team and anchor redevelopment along South Main Street.
Sources close to the Bucks say the team has not yet settled on a name for the Oshkosh franchise and will not announce the team’s leadership during a news conference, set for 3 p.m. Wednesday.

New Colburn pool could open by summer 2018
GREEN BAY – Colburn Park’s new Olympic-size pool could be open for public swimming and competitions by the summer of 2018.
The Green Bay City Council voted 7-5 this week to hire Miron Construction to build the new 50-meter pool and borrow the funds needed to pay for the pool.
A date for construction to start hasn’t been set yet, but the building contract states work on the pool will happen through the entire year of 2017, said Dan Ditscheit, design and development superintendent for the city’s Parks Department.
“Construction would begin as soon as we can get the contractor in there,” Ditscheit said. “All throughout the summer season it would be under construction, and it would be open in the summer of 2018.”

Not having the Colburn pool open for swimming this summer is an acceptable sacrifice for the swim teams who use the pool for practice, said Amanda Tuttle, president of the Green Bay Swim Club. The club had been asking for a new pool for several years.
